I found the advice i was given very well thought through. A lot of care was taken establishing the sequence of events and it wasn’t a promise of a quick fix but a considered solution. I was sceptical but actually the forecast of improvement was very accurate. Great service!

I have had numerous surgery on my lower back together with post op physio. However I was still in pain and discomfort coming from both my sacroiliac joints. Whilst in Cumbria the pain was getting worse so I contacted Otto physiotherapy and arranged a sports massage. On attendance I discussed my symptoms and was asked my goals and how I achieve them. I was informed about 'trigger points' and these areas were manipulated which instantly relieved the pain. I actually slept properly for the first time in ages. I went back for two more sessions and was shown how to sit, stand and walk as well as walking up an incline without putting pressure on my lower back. The advice and help was ss good I even walked up Catbells (the harder route). I would say say that the physiotherapist, Michael Otto uses more of a holistic approach, which worked wonders for me. I am so grateful for the experience and I am now virtually pain free and have joined a gym. Thank you Michael!!

I came to Michael with chronic back/shoulder/lumbar pain having been diagnosed with Myofascial Pain Syndrome. Michael was the third therapist I had attended and immediately noticed his approach was completely different to my previous therapists. Instead of exercising physical relief treatment directly to the trigger points, Michael focused on healing at the base level explaining the considerations of pain on a psychosomatic level. He introduced me to more palliative approaches, including relaxation/meditation and breathing, and the more unknown technique of Buteyko breathing. I have seen a vast improvement and huge decrease in my pain level and a reduction in the number of episodes. Before visiting Michael I was suffering with pain almost 24 hours a day but since adopting these techniques I now have pain free sleep and pain free days. Michael has been fundamental in my recovery by teaching me the connection between mental factors and MPS and the importance of relaxation, breathing and meditation to aid this recovery process. It has not been an overnight fix, and has required time, focus and effort applied by me but with the guidance of Michael who is clearly passionate and knowledgable about pain and the relationship we have with pain. I highly recommend Michael at Otto Physiotherapy to anyone with MPS.

I would definitely recommend Otto Physiotherapy. I have been seen by Michael a few times over the last couple of years. Michael always ensures he gets to the root cause of the problem, he then develops a recovery/ strengthening plan that is realistic. I have had positive experiences every time I have been with injury.

I'm a competitive swimmer and had been experiencing shoulder and hip pain which was affecting my performance. After a couple of sessions Mike worked wonders in sorting the issues. Would definitely recommend!

Have had a knee issue since a skiing accident and Michael has got me back to cycling and fell walking without any knee pain. He is very thorough, completes a range of tests to discover where weaknesses were occurring (not the knee) and helped me hit my goals. Best physio I’ve had and I’ve been to quite a few over the years

I’ve been really pleased with my physio treatment with Michael. I had a complex nerve disruption and Michael has adjusted my treatment plan very thoughtfully at each session. With his encouragement, I’ve hit my recovery goals and am starting to run (slowly) again.

Went to Michael for a couple of issues I had due to training for a half marathon. I was having trouble with my knee and calf. 2 sessions and I'm running long distances pain free! Before I was at a point where I couldn't run 5k without knee pain. His knowledge is second to none and his approach is unlike other physios iv seen. He has a genuine care and interest, and real compassion. He went through what was going on, my form and how to solve it. He's a magician! Would 100% recommend and will absolutely go back for any future niggles!

Michael is the 5th Physio I have seen in over 18 months of having lower back issues, but he's the only one who has actually 'properly listened' to my problem and how it's impacted on my life. I never feel rushed or unheard (a rare thing these days) and Michael has and is adapting a treatment plan to my needs as we work together. After losing all confidence and trust in other medical professionals I have seen in the past both NHS and private, I'm slowly beginning to gain it back by working at a pace of which I'm comfortable with and with someone whom I can trust. I also like the fact that there is an holistic (different) approach to the treatment. Michael is a true professional, very knowledgeable, friendly and easy to talk to. I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending him to my friends or family.
