Michael’s journey as a physiotherapist treating runners started in 2008 when his wife decided to do the London Marathon and he opted to join her to try and impress! He immediately ran into problems as soon as he hit 5K with knee pain and shin splints. As a new graduate he was unsure how to address the problem so he consulted a colleague who introduced him to Chi running. He read the book six times in total before it made meaningful sense and it set him on course for injury free running from that point on.

He has gone on to study running technique in great detail and understands how people need to adjust their running gait to avoid injury. Over the years, he has also been professionally mentored by a leading sports physio and trained by the renowned UK running injury specialist, physio Tom Groom.

Michael uses running gait re-education techniques alongside a pro-sport physio approach to help you address your specific weaknesses. This will help you to target the root cause of the problem so you can train to your fullest potential without your injury re-appearing as soon as you increase your training.

He offers a highly effective blend of Sports Physio and running coaching and has a long-standing track record of proven success, especially when previous treatments and therapies have failed.

1. Find the cause and make a plan

After making a diagnosis Michael uses a sports physio approach to identify any muscle imbalances contributing to your problem. Michael uses his in-depth knowledge of the movements involved during running to assess whether your running gait is aggravating your problem.

With the true cause identified, he will devise the right treatment plan to get you running injury free.

2. Improve session by session

Michael will offer effective hands-on treatment and advice on how to modify your training regime. Together these will help to settle your symptoms down in the fastest time possible. He will teach you running-specific strength and conditioning exercises to address weaknesses that are contributing to your injury. He will run with you to help correct techniques that may be contributing to your problem.
