Pain & Injuries Treated

Getting frustrated or dragged down by a persistent pain or injury?

Persistent injuries

We expect painful injuries to resolve on their own over time, but sometimes they don’t, and instead they become persistent or recurring. This can be really frustrating at it often holds us back from physical activity and enjoying life to the full.

Persistent pain can happen to people of all ages and those of all levels of strength and fitness. From the Ulverston clinic, Michael can help you to understand why your problem has become so troublesome and won’t go away by itself. He has a special interest in treating people who have recurring pain that is triggered by specific movements or activities and has a track record of helping patients find sustained results when previous treatments or physio have only given temporary relief, or failed to make a difference.

Recurring pain is often triggered by the things we do repeatedly on a daily basis, both at work and in our everyday lives, such as driving or lifting. Worse still, they are often also the activities we most enjoy doing – such as walking, running, gardening, playing football, DIY, or training in the gym. They are part of our weekly routine and we have a strong desire to be able to keep doing them without pain.

1. Make sense of it all and make a plan

Michael works to uncover the cause of your problem and provide you with a clear solution and recovery plan.

  • Examine whether there are any damaged tissues or chronically inflamed tissues.
  • Assess whether the way you move is contributing to the problem by repetitively irritating a certain part of your body.
  • Establish whether an old injury has created muscle weakness and another muscle is compensating resulting in overworked areas becoming injured.
  • Determine whether persistent pain is due to the body’s pain system being on high alert and becoming overactive.
